1. Alocasia Zebrina

Do you love an exotic atmosphere and unusual looks in your plants? Alocasia Zebrina stands out with its striped stems reminiscent of zebras. The arrow-shaped fresh green leaves give this exotic plant a unique look.

Alocasia Zebrina likes a tropical climate, so the plant thrives in a bright spot (not in direct sunlight) and needs regular watering. Alocasia Zebrina also likes regular mistings with water.

Philodendron is a popular houseplant - with so many beautiful varieties, there's always a Philodendron that suits you. Philodendron can be recognised by its large, green leaves. which can be oval, pointed or heart-shaped, but can also be deeply incised or have striking veins. Philodendron needs relatively little water thanks to its thick leaves. Its potting soil should be slightly moist, but not too wet. Philodendron likes a light-filled position, but no direct sunlight.

Monstera has been a popular houseplant for many years. And no wonder! Its large, striking leaves make a stylish green statement in any home. 

Monstera likes a bright spot (no direct sunlight). The potting soil should dry out slightly between waterings, but not completely. Monstera likes high humidity, so spray the plant regularly with a plant mister.

4. Snake plant

This strong houseplant is one of the easiest to maintain. With its upright, sturdy leaves, Snake plant adds a modern, cool touch to your home.

Whether you give it a lot of light or a little, or forgot to water it for a while, this plant won't care much. It retains moisture in its leaves and adapts perfectly to changing conditions.

5. Calathea

Are you a seasoned plant lover? Then put versatile Calathea on your wish list. From wavy leaves to ridges and from flaming patterns to stripes, the beautiful Calathea has many looks.

The right ratio of water and light is very important for Calathea. This plant cannot tolerate draughts and likes high humidity (so spraying with a plant mister is recommended). It also needs a constant temperature of around 20°C.

6. Orchid

Need a splash of colour and a luxurious look? Then choose an Orchid. This elegant plant blooms spectacularly for months on end. With thousands of different varieties, there'ss always an Orchid that suits you and your home in terms of colour and style.

Orchids like a bright spot (but no direct sunlight). In summer, water your orchid once a week with room temperature water or rainwater. In winter, this may go down to around once every ten days. You should always water the soil rather than the plant itself. Don't place an orchid in a draught, next to a fruit bowl or near a heater.

7. Umbrella plant

Cheerful Umbrella plant has a unique, playful appearance and can be recognised by its thin stems topped with fan-like buds that resemble tiny umbrellas.

Umbrella plant is a tropical swamp plant. Its root ball should always be moist. Umbrella plant is eminently suitable for rooms with both high humidity and sufficient daylight, such as a well-lit bathroom.

8. Strelitzia

Strelitzia, also known as Bird of Paradise plant, is a real eye-catcher with its large leaves and long, upright stems. Depending on the variety, they can flower, or not. Strelitzia Nicolai flowers only in nature, whereas Strelitzia Reginae can flower, but only after living for eight years. 

Strelitzia needs a lot of light and a lot of water. Give this exotic plant a very sunny spot, but don't put it in direct sunlight. Water the plant at least once a week.

9. Begonia

If you love plants with unusual leaf markings, put begonia on your wish list. These diverse plants have enchanting leaf designs in a variety of colours, such as silver, pink, burgundy or different shades of green.

Begonias do well in a bright spot (no direct sunlight). Make sure to keep the soil moist and preferably don't water this plant, as this can cause mould.

10. Chinese money plant

Chinese money plant is one of the most famous houseplants. This plant grew in popularity in the 1970s and is still a favourite today. It can be recognised by its round, coin-like leaves and is easy to take cuttings from to share with family and friends. 

Chinese money plant is easy to look after. Give it a weekly drink of water and place it in a bright spot, but not in direct sunlight. Turn the plant regularly to ensure it grows upright.
