Small is beautiful
From watchtowers and lofts to two-story maisonettes, his tiny habitats come complete with painstakingly sculpted fixtures and fittings, including wooden furniture, stylish rugs and miniscule objets d’art. One house even has a row of minute houseplants lining its porch.
The artist at work
No newcomer to three-dimensional work, the illustrator draws from his decade-long experience as a prop-maker in the movie business. Each diminutive dwelling has been meticulously handcrafted using natural materials like silk and wood.
These creations are part of Voltz’s series Somewhere Small, which are on show at Virgil Normal in Los Angeles.
