Vintage cool
If you’ve gone for a vintage office vibe with retro pieces, why not make a plant-adorned centerpiece out of a vintage cabinet. Open a couple of the drawers and fill with succulents of varying textures and shades. The bottom drawers can still be used – so it’s as practical as it is beautiful. Finish off with a vintage typewriter and a couple of your favourite houseplants and you’re good to go.
Less is more
Workspace minimalists can still get in on the action without feeling crowded out by plants. Opt for a plant that has a striking and iconic form, like a cactus – then repeat around the room for a cohesive theme that will catch the eye without looking too overgrown.
Bright and breezy
If your desk is positioned in front of a window looking out into the garden, connect with the outside and create a bright and breezy outdoorsy feel using light walls, natural tones and a few carefully chosen plants in front of the window.
Industrial botanist
Freshen up an industrial space by contrasting concrete and distressed paintwork with vintage botanical prints and a mix of textural plants. Majestic ferns with their fabulous fronds make a perfect foil for an industrial backdrop.
Space saver
If you want to surround yourself with plants but don’t have much in the way of desk space, suspend your planters from the ceiling or window frame with string hanging planters or hanging baskets.
Up the wall
Another space-saving idea is to wall-mount your plants. This DIY pallet living wall is super-easy to make and looks nothing short of spectacular. Alternatively, buy an industrial self-unit, place it against the wall and stack your plants to create a wall of foliage.
