Symbolism
The name Cosmos comes from the Greek word for jewel. That is exactly what this plant is, producing precious flowers on your garden, balcony or terrace. Species names such as "Casanova" and "Sonata" help convey the seductive and compelling nature of these flowers.
Origin
The Cosmos is part of the Asteraceae family. Together with the orchid family, it is the largest in the flower kingdom. It is a subtropical plant that originates from Mexico. Nowadays, it's common in the wild, and in our back garden — unsurprising, given its beautiful flowers.
