you will need

  • Cosmos in all the cheerful colours you can find
  • Plant pots in pastel colours
  • Crates in different colours and sizes, for example from Hay

HOW TO MAKE IT

Think about how you want to set up your crate garden. On some steps, alternate small and large crates. Larger cosmos plants in larger crates should be placed behind the small ones. Think about the colour differences and contracts. If you have a fence, try building a staircase of your crates into which you put the plants. You can even build a bridge over a gutter or pipe. Got some planting space left over? Fill it up with other plants that compliment the whole.

double the fun

Cosmos is a highly suitable plant to pick for a bouquet, especially as it grows new flowers all the time. So not only have you brightened up a less beautiful spot, you have created a picking garden. A fresh bouquet from your own garden every day. Who wouldn't want that?!
