Don't give winter blues a chance

The days are short and cold and none of the trees have leaves. The recipe for winter blues? Not to worry! With this wintery wreath you can bring the green outdoors feeling inside. Now that's a nice thing to come home to!

You will need:

  • Helleborus
  • Holly
  • Dwarf cypress
  • Wreath or other round frame
  • Scissors
  • Fishing line or wire
  • Water pipes
  • Ribbon, tape or anything else to hang the wreath with

How to make it
Step 1

Cut twigs of around 20cm from the dwarf cypress. Attach the twigs to the frame one by one using a piece of thin fishing wire. Keep repeating this and building up all around until the wreath is complete and you are happy with the result. Make sure that the frame is no longer visible.

Step 2

Decorate the wreath with Helleborus flowers. To keep the flowers beautiful, use small water tubes. Put the flowers in a tube filled with water and hide the tubes between the branches of the dwarf cypress. Use the red berry branches of the holly to complete the picture. If a tube still shines through here and there, you can disguise it with the holly.

Step 3

Tie the wreath to a ribbon. Secure the ribbon with a hook or tape and hang the wreath in a place of your choice. By hanging the wreath on a wall or door with a contrasting colour (as in our example), you create an especially beautiful effect.
