Introducing Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street

Wander through lush tropical gardens 160m above the Thames.

Majestic palm fronds, birds of paradise (the floral, not the feathered variety), a haven of exotic flowers and lush, emerald-green foliage… Are we on a desert island? A tropical rainforest? No, we’re right in the heart of the City of London hovering almost 160m up in the air above the snaking River Thames. Welcome to Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street.

An Iconic Location

A unique public space at the top of the iconic 20 Fenchurch Street building (a.k.a. the ‘Walkie Talkie’), Sky Garden spans three storeys and offers 360 degree uninterrupted, panoramic views across the City of London.

Visitors can wander around the exquisitely landscaped gardens, observation decks and an open-air terrace of what is officially London’s highest public garden.

SkyGarden

Sky Garden has been “designed to create an open and vibrant place of leisure, offering visitors a rare chance to experience London from a different viewpoint”.

An urban terraced rainforest

The brainchild of award-winning landscape architecture practice Gillespies, the designers created a series of richly planted terraces for Sky Garden. The tropical flavour of the space is thanks to the dominance of drought-resistant Mediterranean and South African species of plants and trees.

Specially chosen plants

Individual plants were specifically hand chosen to work in harmony with the particular quality of light found under the roof canopy. Colour and flowers flourish all year round in the Sky Garden. Amongst the flowering plants are the stunning and iconic African Lily (Agapanthus), Red Hot Poker (Kniphofia) and Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia reginae), interspersed with delicate and fragrant herbs, including French Lavender and Rosemary.

Refreshments

Sky Garden also offers two restaurants, Fenchurch and Darwin Brasserie, and Sky Pod Bar, an all-day eating and drinking space.

Entry to the Sky Garden is free, but space is strictly limited and visits must be booked online in advance through the Sky Garden website.
