Ten tips
- Give (larger green) plants less water in winter.
- The soil can be fairly dry from time to time.
- Better too dry than too wet. Too wet makes the soil acidic, which can cause diseases and leaf discolouration.
- Do not spray plants in the winter, as the water won't evaporate from the leaves.
- Do not give plant food (winter is a rest period).*
- Flowering plants can be watered as usual.
- *As long as there are flowers on the flowering plants, you can still give them some plant food.
- Too close to radiators is never good - the plants will dry out more quickly.
- As much light as possible is good - a bit of direct sunlight is fine as well, as it is not as strong as in winter.
- So in the winter, leave the plants alone as much as possible (except for flowering).
