Make Christmas star lights hanging in your window a thing of the past by upcycling an old lampshade in this Poinsettia DIY to add some style to your festive season.
Create a Poinsettia lampshade
The great thing about the Poinsettia is that it doesn’t really need regular watering: giving it a soak once a week and then letting it drain is all it needs. The ease of caring for the plants makes them perfect for this lampshade creation. Find a couple of lampshades in a charity shop or take a look in the loft to see if you can find some up there. Clean away the dust and spray the frame in a dark pastel colour. Hang the Poinsettias in vintage pleated sleeves (you can get these from the florist) in the top of the lampshades and place a hyacinth bulb in an upside down shade, in the fitting which would normally hold the light bulb.
