You will need

  • Asparagus fern
  • Paint
  • Envelope
  • Sheet of decorative paper
  • Scissors
  • Sponge or paint roller
  • Mixing bowl
  • Sheet of paper
  • Glue

Get to work

Carefully open an existing envelope in its entirety, including the bottom. Place the open envelope on a sheet of decorative paper and trace the outline. You’re using the existing envelope as a template.

Cut it out and fold it back into an envelope. Don’t stick it together yet! Select an attractive piece of asparagus fern from the stem, and place it on a bowl. Dab the sponge in the paint of your chosen colour, and carefully pat it onto the asparagus fern until it’s completely coated.

Place the asparagus fern on the envelope that you’ve made, lay a sheet of paper over the top and press down firmly. Remove the sheet and the asparagus from the paper, and there’s your print! Repeat this step as often as required to achieve your desired result. Then leave the paint to dry thoroughly and stick the envelope together with glue.

Pop your letter in the envelope, stick on a stamp and head for the post box!
