Nature-inspired gift wrapping

A fresh idea to use plants for your gift wrapping

When it comes to gifts, they say it’s the thought that counts – and what could be more thoughtful than creating your own handmade gift wrap from fresh plants, flowers and berries.

Forget the obligatory curly ribbon and foil bows – nature’s spoils make for a far more beautiful and unique way to accessorise your presents and give that extra special finishing touch.

Here are a few ideas to spark your inspiration…

Tropical treats

Add a taste of Paradise to your wrapping using exotic and tropical plants and flowers. Large, glossy leaves and palms make great wrapping paper.

Replace ribbons with grasses and add exotic blooms, such as Hibiscus. Add branches of eucalyptus and seasonal berries. These tropical wraps from Justina Blakeney are truly inspirational.

Minimalist chic

Buying for someone with an eye for design?

Keep things simple and elegant by wrapping your gift in white paper, binding it with plain white string and adding a simple sprig of rosemary or lavender as seen here on remodelista.com.

Not only does this look great, but it will smell amazing too!

Gift from the garden

Make your own piece of gift wrap art by using gorgeous green foliage with contrasting textures against plain wrapping paper to create a rustic and chic look for your gifts.

Tie it all up with coordinating raffia and you have a gift so beautiful they won’t want to open it.

Succulent Decorations

Instead of a traditional bow made of ribbon or twine, try securing a dainty succulent proudly on top of your gift with a corsage/boutonniere pin.

Growing in different shapes and sizes, succulents are the perfect accent for all kinds of boxes that you will be wrapping.
