Gerbera
With its vibrant, sun-like flowers, you might think the gerbera would be better suited to perking you up than sending you to sleep. But this cheerful looking flowering plant releases oxygen through the night making it ideal for freshening up a stuffy bedroom and helping you to breathe easy while you sleep.
Jasmine
Its delicate white flowers and beautiful fragrance make jasmine a welcome addition to any bedroom. And now scientists claim it could even help send you off to sleep. Psychologists at Wheeling Jesuit University found that those exposed to the scent of jasmine had a better quality of sleep than those who weren’t exposed to the flower.
English Ivy
Ivy is well known for its air-purifying properties. In fact, a study by the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology reported that English Ivy removed 94% of airborne feces and 78% of airborne mold in just 12 hours. Peace lily
Who wouldn’t want to look at the elegant peace lily before drifting off to sleep? And this flowering beauty is another plant well known for its air cleaning properties, helping to filter out common airborne toxins. Even better, it boosts humidity levels, which can help reduce allergies – as well as relieving pesky dry noses and scratchy throats.
Lavender
We couldn’t talk about sleep-inducing plants without mentioning the soporific scent of lavender. Used as a sleep aid for centuries, and with no shortage of scientific evidence to support its claims, you know you can count on lavender when counting sheep won’t cut it.
