Welcome to the Cactus Jungle

How a hobby became a nursery

If you’re going to San Francisco…. don’t forget to visit the Cactus Jungle (and to put flowers in your hair, of course). In Berkeley, on the east coast of San Francisco Bay, you will find cactus paradise. Hap Hallibaugh and Peter Lipson have ran a gem of a garden centre since 2002, full of everything prickly which need little water.

Hundreds of Cacti and Succulents

What began as a hobby has grown into a magical nursery, with hundreds of varieties of cacti and succulents. In the Cactus Jungle, you will find indoor and outdoor plants, minuscule or sky-high; common or super rare.

Fun for Christmas:  A Succulent Wreath

Owners Peter and Hap not only have ten green fingers, but also two right hands. For example, they make beautiful succulent wreaths (great DIY idea for Christmas!) which they send around America.

Their home-made wall panels are also works of art. Not only are they really nice on a fence, but also look great in the bathroom, for example.

Wonderful soaps that contain cactus oil

The Cactus Jungle also sell their own home-made soap, especially for your green fingers that turn grubby during gardening. As well as olive oil, it also contains a good dose of cactus oil, of course.

A Sunday afternoon in the jungle

Are you not planning a trip to San Francisco in the foreseeable future? Then a digital trip to the Cactus Jungle is also an option. Hap and Peter maintain an informative and entertaining blog, pin continuously, have a Facebook page and even their own Cactus Jungle YouTube channel. Enough cactus material for a rainy Sunday afternoon, wherever you are in the world.

Have you ever wondered how much water you actually need to give to cacti? Peter Lipson tells you in this nice short film:
